We're better together image2You are showing your true colors again, Madrid, by coming together to support our vulnerable citizens and our local businesses! Meals are being provided for students in need, the Madrid Masons are organized to shop for those at risk, and you are supporting your local businesses. Please keep it up by following the MAC Facebook page to keep track of hours and open businesses. As you would expect, the MAC Banquet has been postponed. Here’s a list of resources that may be helpful during this challenging time:

Resources for Businesses

CARES Act funds are available to pay utility bills for businesses affected by COVID-19. More information is on the Iowa Economic Development website.

COVID-19 Restaurant Opening Guidance document

Iowa Retail Initiative helps businesses reopen.

Iowa Department of Public Health of Iowans Business and Organizations Guidance page.

Iowa Business Recovery Assistance details. Relief funds deadline is March 31 for businesses with employees; first come first served for businesses without employees.

Boone County Fair is on! July 16-19.

The Madrid Labor Day 2020 Car Show is canceled.

The 2020 Alumni Dinner is canceled.

IMPACT Boone County Resource Center Food Pantry is expanding hours to 10:30 am to 4:00pm Monday thru Friday. Call ahead for service.

City playgrounds equipment, shelters, and restrooms at Madrid City Parks and at Madrid Elementary School are back open starting June 6.

Iowa Arboretum is now open!

Snus Hill Winery events reopen with new restrictions.

Greater Love Ministries is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and the first Saturday of the month. Mask recommended. Hours are here. Call 515-795-3913 for details.

Food truck nights (temporary?) location change while parks are closed: in the parking lot of Madrid Automotive.

Main Street is one-way by the Elementary School between 11:15 am and 1:00pm daily. Travel north to south  to accommodate curb-side pick up. Be sure to use W 21st St (not Little Street) to enter Main Street, and line up single file on the left.

Madrid Public Library is offering curbside pick up. Call the Library (795-3846), and staff will check out items and put them outside. Online resources also available. The Library is beginning to increase services in June.

Congregate meals are temporarily available by delivery; call 515-432-1127 to make arrangements.
