Recycling Trailer Available for City Residents

A recycle trailer is now available near the Market of Madrid for residents of Madrid. Please refer to the sticker on the side of the trailer for details on items accepted for recycling.

Downtown Street Closure Starts Monday, July 10

Beginning Monday, August 7, 2017, 2nd Street will be closed between Water and State Street for repairs. The project is expected to last until Friday, August 25.

Cool Down at Community Room

Come cool off at the Community Room! Due to the expected high heat indexes Tuesday, July 18 through Saturday, July 22nd, 2017, the City of Madrid will be opening the Community Room at 303 S. Water St as a cooling center between the hours of 8:30 AM and 10:00 PM.

Introducing Scott Church, Public Works/Park Director

Scott Church was hired by the Madrid City Council  as the new Public Works/Park Director for the City of Madrid.

Church has over 18 years of experience working for the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) in the Highway Maintenance Division. During his time with the DOT, he has served as an equipment operator, equipment operator senior, and highway maintenance supervisor. Church attended Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri, and DMACC in Ankeny. He currently lives in Ogden.

The Public Works/Park Director position is brand new with a two-year, salary contact. A vehicle and new equipment are needed. Mayor Riggenberg said, “His number one job will be to economize the work force.”
