Helms Farmstead Available for Tours

The Helms Farmstead has been in the Helms family since 1901. This century farm is located a mile south of Madrid along Highway 17, and it is being restored to show what a historical farm would have looked like and what machinery would have been used. The farm is now owed by the Madrid Historical Society. Clark Helms, the grandson of the original owners, Charles C. Helms and Mary Ellen Helms. Tours are available; call Clark at 515-202-3325.

Support Madrid by joining a Board: Library Board, Park Board, or Planning and Zoning Commission

Several local boards have vacancies. Join the Madrid Public Library Board of Directors, the Madrid Park Board, or the Planning and Zoning Commission. Fill out an application at the Library to join the Library Board. Contact City Hall in Madrid to express interest in the Park Board or Planning and Zoning Commission.
